lidiinae, and is characterized as follows : SUBFAMILY DIPYLIDIINAE STILES, 1896. Subfamily Diagnosis.—Taeniidae: Suckers unarmed. Rostel-lum armed, rarely absent. Genital pores lateral, single, or dou-ble and opposite. Genital organs of each segment in single or dou-ble series. LTterus usually divides up into egg sacs, or disappearsentirely so that the eggs lie free in the parenchyme. Eggs withthin transparent shells, with or without appendages. Larval Compliments American Medicine. 130 CH. WARDELL STILES forms (cysticercoides) in arthropods or mollusks. Strobila inmammals, birds, and reptiles. Type genus: Dipylidium Leuckart. GENUS DIPYLIDIUM2 LEUCKART, 1863. Generic Diagnosis.—Dipylidiinae: Rostellum retractile, armedwith several rings of alternating hooklets which usually possess adiscoidal base. Suckers unarmed.
