English: Nanoart is an image of nanostructured gallium arsenide. The boundary between the two phases resembles the coastline of the sea. This image demonstrates the formation of nanocrystallites by the island mechanism. This mechanism of formation of nanostructures is typical for the case of the deposition of a material whose crystal parameters do not coincide with those of the substrate. Heterostructures based on gallium arsenide have broad prospects for use in laser technology and photonics. We dedicate this nanoart to our native city of Berdiansk. We believe that soon we will be able to return home, to the free Ukrainian Berdiansk. The synthesis of nanostructures was carried out at the Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, the authors are Yana Suchikova (Yana Sychikova) and Serhii Kovachov. At the time of submission of the image for the competition, the city of Berdiansk is under occupation, and the university is captured by the russian invaders. The image was made within the project “Nanoart. New Symbolism of Science”.
