==Plot==
Jake Blues (John Belushi) is released from prison--specifically, the Joliet Correctional Center--after serving a three-year prison term for [[Грабіж|armed robbery]]. Jake is picked up by his brother, Elwood ([[Ден Екройд|Dan Aykroyd]]), in the Bluesmobile, a battered former Mount Prospect police cruiser. The brothers visit their childhood home in Calumet City, Illinois, a Catholic orphanage.
There, they learn from Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman) that it is facing imminent closure unless $5,000 in property taxes is remitted to the [[Кук (округ, Іллінойс)|Cook County]] Assessor's Office. When The Blues Brothers offer to produce the money quickly, Sister Mary becomes livid, chasing them from her office--she angrily declares she will not accept stolen money, and decrees that they cannot return until such time as they have redeemed themselves. On the advice of Curtis (Cab Calloway), an old janitor at the orphanage who taught the brothers about the blues, Jake and Elwood attend a church service held at the Triple Rock Baptist Church, led by The Reverend Cleophus James ([[Джеймс Браун|James Brown]]), wherein Jake has a revelation: they can legitimately raise the funds by reforming their R&B band.
Later that night, Jake and Elwood discuss the whereabouts of the other band members. Elwood confesses that they took straight jobs, and he has few leads as to where to find them, upsetting Jake. Elwood runs a red light, and he is pulled over by Illinois State Police Troopers Daniel (Armand Cerami) and Mount (Steven Williams), who learn of his suspended license. When they attempt to arrest Elwood, he speeds off, escaping through the Dixie Square Mall, causing chaos and evading pursuing officers.
The brothers arrive at the [[Нічліжка|flophouse]] where Elwood lives. The building is being surreptitiously surveilled by a Mystery Woman ([[Керрі Фішер|Carrie Fisher]])--who observes the arrival of Troopers Daniel and Mount, and Illinois Department of Corrections Officer Burton Mercer ([[Джон Кенді|John Candy]]), a Probation officer. The Mystery Woman launches a [[Пускова установка|rocket]] attack--however, this leaves both the Blues Brothers, Troopers Daniel and Mount, and Burton Mercer, unharmed. The Mystery Woman's attempt on the lives of the Blues Brothers saves them from being arrested.
