ABBYY FineReader — Optical character recognition software produced by ABBYY.

The software allows the conversion of document images (photographs, scanned copies, PDF files) into digital, editable formats, in particular to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, RTF (Rich Text Format), HTML, PDF, PDF/A, searchable PDF, CSV, text (plain text) files etc. Starting from version 11, it is possible to save files in "djvu" format. Version 12 supports text recognition in 190 languages and has an integrated spellchecker for 48 of them[3].

More than 20 million people use ABBYY FineReader worldwide [4][5][6]. FineReader is based on ABBYY OCR (optical character recognition) technology, which is licensed by Fujitsu, Panasonic, Xerox, Samsung[7][8] and other companies.
