== Опис ==
Загальна довжина представників цього роду від 18 до 20 см, інколи зустрічаються й 25 см. Тулуб струнки, хвіст тонкий. Кольор шкіри коливається від місця розповсюдження, при цьому переважають сірі, коричневі та оливкові кольори. Черево піщано забарвлення, хвіст має червоний, багряний, помаранчевий кольор. Особливістю представників роду Acanthodactylus є на пальцях своєрідних «гребінців», утворюючи щось на кшталт «бахроми». Звідси походить їх інші назви. Наявність гребенців дозволяє ящірка «ковзати» по піску.
== Спосіб життя ==
Полюбля піщані місцини, напівпустелі та пустелі. Це досить швидкі й моторні ящірки. Ховається у власних норах, а також у норах піщаних гризунів. Харчується комахами та безхребетними.
Це [[яйцекладні]] ящірки. Самиця відкладає від 3 до 7 яєць.

Мешкає від північної Африки до південно—західної Азії, зустрічається також у південно—західній Європі.
