Beware Ukrainian editors:for all articles related to Ukraine they'll try to force the, as they call it, "established" (by which they mean based on Russian and not Ukrainian) latinization (English spelling). Usually they use Google and the number of entries found for Russian-based English spelling to enforce their edits.

1. Taivo <- Is an American, yet defends fiercely Russian-based spelling. Idk why.
2. Toddy1 <- particularly belligerent due to the fact that he is actually a Ukrainian citizen himself, but practices Putinism (that is professes Putinistic religious views).
3. Illythr <- reasonable and intelligent guy, but defends Russian-based spelling from a perspective that it's "well-established" in academic world, everyday speech etc. Can be reasoned with.
4. Ghirlandajo <- ?
5. Knepflerle <- ?

Methods of defending Ukrainian-based latinization

In order to fight it, use the following methods:

• 1) refined Google search (use special swithc "-" to exclude russian-based speling from the search, thus providing more realistic number of Ukrainian-based English spellings on the internet.
• 2) Use well-established encyclopedias, like Britannica or World Book Encyclopedia (often they have editors that actually take into account the fact that Ukraine got independent from the USSR/Russia in 1991 and now all government officials use Ukrainian-language as a basis for transliteration Ukrainian-related nouns in English)
• 3) Use English versions of governmental websites of the countries that are friendly to Ukraine, like the USA, Sweden etc. (examples of such websites could be US or British embassies that use Ukrainian-based spelling of Ukraine-related nouns http://ukraine.usembassy.gov/ or http://ukinukraine.fco.gov.uk/en/),
• 4) Use English-language newspapers/magazines/news-agencies that use Ukrainian-based English spelling of Ukraine-related nouns (you could use any English speaking online/offline newspaper that already uses Ukrainian-based English spelling of Ukraine-related nouns, like for instance Ukrainian English language online news agencies (for instance Worldwide News Ukraine: http://wnu-ukraine.com/, KyivPost ( http://www.kyivpost.com), KyivWeekly ( http://www.kyivweekly.com.ua) , but it is strongly suggested to use some very-well established Western world English-language news agency; the reason being that aforementioned Ukrainophobes will try to diminish the significance of Ukraine-related articles with Ukrainian-based English spelling if the the source is anything other than big-media players (BBC, CBS, MSBC, Time, NY Times, NBC)).
• 5) Use Google-books/Google-scholar to find out how many Ukrainian-based spellings can be found in published academic works/books. Unfortunately, this latter method is quite useless most of the time due to the fact that English-language research on Ukraine has used Russian language almost exclusively as the basis for latinizaing of Ukraine-related nouns, simply because it has been a part of Russian Empire/USSR during nearly entire 20th century. The "mere" 20 years of independence that Ukraine has had, has not had any significant influence on how English-languange scholars spell Ukrainian nouns - they still use Russian-based ones, since it's "convenient", "been used "for quite some times" now, "established in English speaking world etc etc.
